London HCV Consensus
Hepatitis C, Substance Misuse and Health Inequalities -
delivering a consensus for London
An estimated 34,000 Londoners with a history of injecting drugs have hepatitis C.
About 800 are being treated.
Most people simply fall through the gaps in existing services, but the future cost to NHS London of not acting now could be over 600 million pounds.
Chaired by Professor David Nutt, the conference will develop a stakeholder consensus on what needs to be done to integrate London health and addiction services to support vulnerable patients to get treatment for hepatitis C, tackle health inequalities and stop the spread of the virus.
Who should attend:
• Hepatologists
• Specialist Nurses
• Addiction Psychiatrists
• Service Managers for Viral Hepatitis and Substance Misuse
• Specialist Commissioners
• Pan-London Commissioning Leads
• National Treatment Agency
• NHS London
• Health Protection Agency
• SMMGP Leads
• Substance Misuse Leads
• Stakeholders from the Private, Statutory and Third Sector
